Matatani PreSchool opened its doors in February 2024, but the classrooms were bare. There were no chairs and tables for the teachers, no buckets to collect water, no cooking pots for making food and so much more was missing that the school was about to close just as it opened. The container-buildings were donated by the University of Johannesburg as part of their outreach to rural areas, but the parents of the preschoolers are unemployed and do not have the means to equip the school with the necessary ware-with-all for learning and care. Chief Mabila, who the Baobab Foundation has often worked with, contacted the Baobab Foundation for help. Thanks to the fabulous support we get from our many donors, we were able to help little learners could keep going to school.
